Tools for Small Business Owners and Content Creators (we think you’ll LOVE them!)
In our time in direct sales, social marketing, and small business we have stumbled on many tools and resources. Some have helped make our lives so much easier while others were just meh. We’ve compiled a list of all the tools we use and have used that WOWed us and were an incredible bang for our buck! Naturally, we have to share them with you! Bookmark this page and visit it often because as we stumble upon another tool, we will be sure to add it here. Our goal is to provide you tools that are easy on the budget and make your life easier. So here are some of our favorite tools for small business owners and content creators!
Airtable – This is spreadsheets on hyperdrive! Airtable combines a database and a spreadsheet and makes things like customer follow up, order management, inventory, contacts, projects, calendars, affiliate links, and tons more! It also integrates with Zapier, giving you an easy way to capture data automatically.
ConvertKit – Easily place your customers onto mailing lists using effective opt in sequences, templates, and more! Communicate quickly with targeted lists based on what customers have purchased and make follow up a breeze. We love it for the ease of importing customer lists from other email marketing companies and the ability to strategically target customers.
Flodesk – A brand new email program designed to simplify your email marketing strategy. Templates foster TONS of inspiration based on the intended goal of the email. Mailerlite – If you’re looking for an ultra low cost way to communicate with your customers, check out Mailerlite! It’s easy to use, integrates with WordPress, creates sequences, and much more. The best part? If you have a relatively small list (less than 1,000 subscribers) and don’t send many emails (less than 12,000) it’s FREE! Can’t get much better than that!
Appsumo – Choose from hundreds of apps for your blog or website designed to help you find tools to save you time and money for your business. Chances are you’ll find something you didn’t know you needed, kinda like shopping at Target.
Flairly Social – Our parent company, Flairly Social provides in depth website creation, creative consulting, and more! Siteground – Our favorite for hosting company’s, Siteground provides unmatched customer service and hosting/domain services that are unmatched. We love them for the ease of use and set-it-and-forget-it hosting program.
Canva – A basic content design program with some great templates for e-guides, social media posts, posters, business cards, and more! We love it for its ease of use, price point, and ability to add additional fonts. Bulk order printing is also available! You can also store your own branding colors and fonts for easy access when creating graphics.
PicMonkey – Another basic content design program that incorporates a plethora of photographs, clip art, fonts, and designs that is easy to use for content creation. We love it for the easy background eraser feature and it’s great for making simple designs for your Cricut machine!
Answer the Public – If you ever wondered how to learn what people are searching for when it comes to you or your products, Answer the Public is a great way to find out. A database full of information, Answer the Public is a tool you can use to find out what people are searching for. Type a word or phrase into the search field and Answer the Public will generate popular search engine results of what the public is asking Google, literally telling you what people are searching for. We love it for ease of use and abundance of questions that can be answered through blog topics and posts.
Share-A-Sale – An affiliate marketplace of sorts where you can search a database of merchants who want to partner with creators, bloggers, and influencers to market their products. And we’re talkin’ hundreds of thousands. We love it for a one stop shop to manage affiliate partners as well as share coupons and discounts with our communities.
Brenda Ster – Learn how to run an effective social marketing strategy for ANY business with proven methods to create genuine engagement with your customers and followers. Find content calendars, learn how to increase engagement on all of your social channels, join a mastermind group, and more! There are tons of free resources to help get you started off on the right foot with your creative business!
Skillshare – Need to brush up on business skills? Or maybe learn a new way to photograph your products? Skillshare has over 22,000 classes guaranteed to build any skill you wish to master. Try it out for free for two months with any premium membership! We love it for the accessibility (it’s all online!), the instructors, and the topics available.
Creator Studio by Facebook – Make your multi-posting easy for ALL of your Facebook & Instagram pages by managing and scheduling content through Creator Studio. This does not post to groups (yet, but we hope that will be coming….) but allows you to manage all of the Facebook and Instagram pages you are admin. Easily share, recycle, and schedule all types of content. Creator Studio also has a bank of approved music and sounds available for download to add to your videos. No more being blocked for unauthorized music! Our favorite things are being able to access both channels for a one stop shop scheduler. And the best? IT’S FREE!
